2015 First Town Days Souvenir Plate

Each year the festival committee chooses a special design for the annual souvenir plate. The committee attempts to bring forth a design that will signify something important to the festival, the park, or the community. The subject of this year's plate design fulfills all three of these goals. The committee will be honoring a man who has been responsible for putting smiles on the faces of thousands of children and adults alike for the past 46 years. We are describing none other than our long time carousel operator Dave Miller.

The first order of business was to obtain a picture of Dave, and hopefully to be able to find one of him in his favorite place, on the carousel. This was accomplished through the courtesy of Dave's wife Linda.

The second order of business was to find an artist who could convert the picture into an image suitable for display on the plate. Christy Bloom, who has created many beautiful plate designs in the past for First Town Days, was contacted and agreed to be our souvenir plate artist. The end result was a very attractive plate design honoring a man who has devoted much of his life to the enjoyment of others. The first five numbered plates will be auctioned at opening ceremonies, Thursday, July 2nd at 6:30 PM at the Al Maloney Midway Stage. Remaining plates may be purchased after the auction at the First Town Days Office on the Midway.
