First Town Days honors Ferris Chevrolet, the festival's only sponsor for all 35 years of the community event.
Festival chairman Sam Hitchcock said this year's festival will honor Ferris Chevrolet, the festival's only sponsor for all 35 years of the community event, by featuring the New Philadelphia automotive dealership's Junior Superstars competitions on this year's commemorative plate.
The first five numbered plates, designed by local artist Greg Scott, will be sold at auction at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, following opening ceremonies at 4 on the Maloney Midway Stage.
Auctioneer Don Wallick, who has served as the festival's auctioneer for the past 34 years, once again will provide his services free of charge, Hitchcock said. The plate depicts children involved over the years in the Ferris Junior Superstars competitions, one of the most popular events of the festivals.
